Slates
Slates of good quality is quarried in the Kharagpur hills in the neighbourhood of Dharhara Station, Monghyr, and is used for roofing, flooring, electrical purposes and as children's slates. A certain quantity of slate quarrying has also been carried out in Singhbhum district to the north-east of Bhitardari and near Buhuta. It is well in demand in the foreign markets. Slate samples collected from Bhitardari were exhibited in STONA - 92', Bangalore and at least nine interested buyers had recorded their willingness on visitor's Register to purchase this material in various sizes.More resources:
